4K     - Dirk, DK1DKE will be active again as 4K7DK from Baku, Azerbaijan on
         2-6 May. He will operate SSB and FT8 on 80-10m.  QSL via DK1DKE and

4X     - Look for special prefixes 4X74 and 4Z74, followed by the  station's
         individual suffix (e.g. 4X1OM and 4Z5OC will be signing 4X74OM  and
         4Z74OC, respectively) to be used to celebrate the State of Israel's
         74th anniversary on 5-11 May. QSL via operator's instructions.
9N     - Janusz, SP9FIH and Leszek, SP6CIK have been active from  Kathmandu,
         Nepal as 9N7WE and 9N7CI, respectively, since 25 April, and plan to
         remain QRV until 19 May. They have antennas for 40, 30, 17, 15, 12,
         10 and 6m.  QSL via Club Log's OQRS (preferred), or via home calls.

BY     - Ten stations (B0CRA, B1CRA,  B2CRA,  B3CRA,  B4CRA,  B5CRA,  B6CRA,
         B7CRA, B8CRA and B9CRA) from across the country will be active from
         12 UTC on 3 May  until 12 UTC on 5 May  for this year's  "5.5 China
         Amateur Radio Festival" on air event, organized by the  Chinese Ra-
         dio Amateurs Club (CRAC).  See  http://www.crac.org.cn/55  for log-
         search, and http://awards.crac.org.cn for the awards (from 1 June).

DU     - Mike, W6QT plans to be active as  DU3/W6QT  from Subic Bay, Philip-
         pines between  1 May and 15 September.  He will operate SSB and FT8

EA     - Special callsign EH40URV will be activated from  30 April to 29 May
         in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Union de Radioaficio-
         nados de Vizcaya  (https://www.radioaficionadosbizkaia.com),  URE's
         branch in the province of Biscay. QSL via EA2URV.
EA     - Once again the Federacion Digital EA will operate special callsigns
         AO1EU, AO2EU, AO3EU, AO4EU, AO5EU, AO6EU, AO7EU, AO8EU and AO9EU on
         5-9 May to celebrate Europe Day,  the anniversary  of  the  Schuman
         Declaration (9 May 1950) that paved the way to the  European Union.

EA     - Gabriel, EA2EWF will be active as EG2DMA on 20-21 May.  QSL via the
         bureau. The special  callsign's suffix stands for Dia Mundial de la
         Abeja, i.e. World Bee Day.  To raise awareness of the importance of
         pollinators, the threats they face  and  their contribution to sus-
         tainable development, the UN designated 20 May as World Bee Day.
EX     - Ilya, R5AF  and  Igor, R4FCN (R2BZ) will be active as  EX/R5AF  and
         EX/R4FCN from Kyrgyzstan on 8-14 May. They expect to visit Bishkek,
         drive around  Lake Issyk-Kul  (Issyk-Kul State Nature Reserve)  and
         climb Mount Komsomolets (Ala-Archa Nature Park).  They will operate
         CW, FT8 and some SSB on 40-10m.  QSL cards will be sent to everyone
         via the bureau. They also plan to upload to LoTW, eQSL, HamLog  and
         Club Log.
F      - Franck, F4DTO and Patrick, F4GFE will be active as TM400MO for fif-
         teen days between 2 May and 21 October  (see qrz.com for the actual
         dates).  The special callsign  memorializes  the  400th anniversary
         since the birth of  Moliere,  the French playwright widely regarded
         as one of the greatest writers in world literature. QSL via F4DTO.
G      - Jamie, M0SDV will be active holiday style as M0SDV/p from the  Isle
         of Wight (EU-120) on 5-8 May. He will operate SSB and CW on  40-6m.

GM     - After a 2-year hiatus  due to Covid,  14 members  of the  Camb-Hams
         will be active as GS3PYE/p  from near Dunvegan on the  Isle of Skye
         (EU-008) from 30 April to 6 May.  They will be running several sta-
         tions on  80-10m, 6m, 2m, QO-100, and  some low earth orbit  satel-

HC8    - Gustavo, HC2FG will be active as  HD8FG from  Santa Cruz, Galapagos
         Islands (SA-004)  on 4-8 May.  He will be QRV on  6 metres FT8  and

JW     - JW9DSA (LA9DSA), HB9DQM, LB1RH and LB8CG will conduct a  SOTA DXpe-
         dition to Svalbard on 1-5 May. They plan to be QRV from two summits
         for a couple of hours each.  JW/LB1RH/p and JW9DSA/p  will focus on
         SSB (20, 17 and 15m),  while  JW/LB8CG/p and JW/HB9DQM/p will focus

ON     - OT2022EPIC  is  the special callsign  for the  Pajottenlandse Radio
         Amateur Club (ON4PRA) to promote  the fifth edition of the  Antwerp
         Port Epic cycling race. Activity started on 23 April,  and will end
         on 22 May, i.e. the actual day the race will be held on.
OZ     - Wies SP1EG,  Hans DK8RE  and  Hans DL8UUF  will be active as  5P1EG
         from Romo Island  (EU-125) on  7-14 May.  They will operate CW, SSB
         and digital modes on various bands.  QSL via SP1EG.  [TNX OPDX Bul-

PA     - PA100THALES is a special callsign celebrating the 100th anniversary
         of the company  now known as  Thales Nederland.  Activity will take
         place between 21 April and 31 December from the company's  five lo-
         cations in the Netherlands  (Eindhoven, Delft, Hengelo, Huizen  and
         Rotterdam). QSL via PB2X.
PZ     - The  radio  squad  of the  Royal Netherlands Army's  11 Air Assault
         Brigade is currently active as  PZ5JT  during their  Jungle Warfare
         Training course in Suriname. Look for activity on 20, 17, 15 and 10
         metres SSB. QSL direct to 11 Luchtmobiele Brigade /Radio-groep,  PO
         Box 9208, 6800 HK Arnhem, Netherlands.
TR     - Roland, F8EN will be QRV again as TR8CR from Gabon between  mid-May
         and the end of July,  with "full time" activity starting no earlier
         than 1 June. He will operate CW mainly on 40, 30 and 20 metres, and
         will celebrate his 94th birthday while there. QSL via F6AJA, direct

UA     - A very large number of Russian stations using special  prefix  RP77
         will be active on 2-9 May to celebrate the 77th anniversary  of the
         end of World War II.  More information,  including the list of par-
         ticipating  stations  and  their QSL routes,  will be available  on
         https://pobeda.srr.ru/.
UA9    - Russian Robinson Club's  members  Sergey R4WAA,  Vasily R7AA,  Yuri
         RM0F and Eugene UA6EX will be active as RI0QQ from  Brusneva Island
         (AS-082) on 27-31 July, IOTA Contest included.  They will be QRV on
         40-15 metres  with up to  three stations.  QSL via  Club Log's OQRS

V5     - Paul, ZS2PS will be active as V5/ZS2PS while visiting Namibia  from
         early May until mid-June. "I cannot give you a fixed QTH", he says,
         "as I will be operating from my Landcruiser and we will be standing
         where ever we get to  from about 4pm local time".  He will  operate
         SSB and CW on 80, 60, 40, 20, 30 and 10 metres.  QSL via LoTW, eQSL
         or home call.
VU4    - Yuris, YL2GM will be active as  VU4W  from the Andaman Islands (AS-
         001) on 3-16 May.  Look for activity on 160-10 metres CW, SSB, RTTY
         and FT8 F/H (see https://www.lral.lv/vu4w/ for the band plan).  QSL
         via  Club Log's OQRS (preferred), or direct to YL2GN. If you do not
         use Club Log, email yl2gn[@]lral.lv with the QSO details for bureau
         cards. A full  LoTW  upload will follow six months after the end of
         the DXpedition.

QSL CP6CL  ---> Charles, M0OXO is the new QSL manager for Carlos, CP6CL from
Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia.  QSL cards are being printed  and  will be

+ SILENT KEY + Roger Western, G3SXW  passed away  on  24 April.  He had been
either in hospital  or  in a nursing home since  late October 2019,  when he
fell off a ladder  while clearing leaves  from the roof gutter  on his house
and suffered serious injuries.
Born on 1 September 1946 and licensed in 1964, during the Seventies he lived
in Iran and operated as EP2IA (1976-1979);  he often visited Afghanistan  on
business  and  managed to get on the air  a few times  as YA1R.  He was best
known, however, for his  CW DXpeditions and contesting,  so much so  that he
was inducted into both the CQ Contest Hall of Fame (1998) and the CQ DX Hall
of Fame (2007).
His  CQ WW DX CW Contest operations  with the  Three A's Contest Group  from
Guernsey (1981 and 1982),  Jersey (1983-86)  and  Luxembourg (LX/G0AAA 1987)
were followed by 4U0ITU (1989), CN5N (1990), C56N (1991), ZC4Z (1992), ZF2WW
1993). Then it came the glorious season with the  Vooodoo Contest Group,  of
which he was a founding member (https://www.voodoocontestgroup.com/):  9G5AA
(1994),  TY5A (1995),  5V7A (1996-98),  9G5AA (1999-2000),  XT2DX (2001-02),
5U5Z (2004),  TZ5A (2005-06), 3X5A (2007-08), 9L5VT (2010), EL2A (2012)  and
P3F (2013)
His 100% CW DXpeditions (both solo and with friends, notably G3TXF), includ-
ed, inter alia,  C56/G3SXW (1989),  H44SX (1991),  3DA/G3SXW (1992),  ZC4SXW
(1992), ZD9SXW (1993), XX9TSX (1994), 9N1SXW (1995), FH/G3SXW (2000), S79SXW
(2000),  FW/G3SXW (2000),  VK9CXW (2001),  ZL7/G3SXW (2001),  V63SXW (2003),
TJ3G (2004), P29SX (2004),  C21SX (2005), FP/G3SXW (2006),  FY/G3SXW (2007),
JW/G3SXW (2007), OY/G3SXW (2007), YK9G (2008).
Roger's legacy also includes  four books  on DXing and contesting:  "Up Two.
Adventures of a DXpeditioner" (2003),  "Contesting in Africa. Multi-Multi on
the Equator"  (2004),  "Micro-DXpeditioning Uncovered"  (2008)  and  "DX De-
lights. Tales of Travels with my Radio" (2009).
