5H     - Tev, TA1HZ is now working at a project in Tabora, Tanzania.  He has
         received his licence and will be active as 5H8HZ on the HF bands in
         his spare time, "mainly in the evenings and every other Sunday". He
         will upload his log to  Club Log,  eQSL and  LoTW. The  direct only
         route for paper QSLs  will be announced sometime in 2023.  Tev does
         not use the bureau.
8Q     - Gianpi, IK1TTD will be active holiday style as 8Q7TD  from the Mal-
         dives (AS-013) on 2-17 October. He will be QRV mainly on 20 metres.

9H     - In celebration of the life of the Late Queen Elizabeth II,  members
         of the Marconi Amateur Radio Circle will be active as 9H6QE from 17
         September to 14 October.  Main activity  will be on  20, 17, 15, 12
         and 10 metres. QSL direct to 9H1MRC.
9K     - 9K9KSA is the callsign for the Kuwait Amateur Radio Society to join
         the celebrations of Saudi National Day on 19-25 September.  QSL via
         EC6DX.
A6     - Also taking part in the celebrations of Saudi National Day  will be
         members of the  Emirates Amateur Radio Society as  A60ARS  (QSL via
         EA7FTR) on 17-23 September. They may also append a serial number to
         the special callsign,  and be active as  A60ARS/1,  A60ARS/2,  etc.

A9     - The  Bahrain Amateur Radio Society, A91ARS  will take part  in  the
         celebrations  of  Saudi National Day  on  17-23 September.  QSL via
         EC6DX.
CT9    - The CR3SI expedition to Selvagem Grande (AF-047) [425DXN 1635]  has
         been delayed, and it is now expected to take place on 23-26 Septem-
         ber. Plans are for five operators (CT1BOL,  CT1DSV,  CT1ENV,  CT3KN
         and CT3MD) to be QRV on CW, SSB and FT8  as long as possible  until
         they have to leave the island at  11 UTC on  26 September.  QSL via
         CT1DSV.
F      - Pat, F8BON expects  to be active as  TM2RE  from Ile de Re (EU-032)
         until 26 September. He will operate SSB and FT8 on 80-10 metres and
         2m. QSL via Club Log's OQRS, or via F5MFV.
F      - TM10KIY is the  special callsign for members  of the  Radio Club du
         Pays de Nied (F4KIY)  to celebrate their  10th anniversary from  23
         September to 7 October.  Main activity will be on  80-6 metres  SSB
         and FT8. QSL via the bureau. [TNX F8REF]
FO     - Vincent, K6VVK will be active holiday style  (about one hour a day)
         as FO/K6VVK from Moorea (OC-046), French Polynesia  from 27 Septem-
         ber to 5 October.  He will operate SSB, CW and FT8/FT4  on  various
         bands.  Neither direct  nor bureau cards will be available,  but he
         will upload his log to Club Log, LoTW, eQSL and QRZ.
G      - Amateur radio  operators in the  United Kingdom  may use a  special
         Regional Secondary Locator on  14-19 September  to mark the passing
         and funeral of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.  The RSL - i.e.
         the second letter  in the  existing callsign  (D, I, J, M, U and W,
         plus E for Intermediate licences) -  may be replaced  by the letter
         'Q';  where no RSL exists,  the letter 'Q' may be added.  Club  Log
         will map all the GQ/MQ/2Q  callsigns to England,  unless a callsign
         exception exists for the station.
GI     - Celebrating the accession of  King Charles III,  Brian, GI0RWO  has
         been active as GB0KC since 10 September. QSL via e-mail;  send your
         QSO details to [email protected].
HS     - Look for E21EIC, HS3NBR, HS8GLR and HS9JZL to be active as HS3NBR/p
         from Maeo Island  (AS-145)  starting around 8 UTC  on  16 September
         until  around 2 UTC on  19 September.  They will operate  CW,  SSB,
         RTTY, and FT8/4 on 40-10 metres with two stations. QSL via LoTW, or

HV     - Marija, YU3AWA will be guest operating at HV0A, Vatican City on  17
         September starting around  8 UTC until around 13 UTC. QSL direct to
         IK0FVC, and LoTW.
IS0    - Luca, IK5AEQ  will be active as  IM0/IK5AEQ  from  Maddalena Island
         (EU-041) on 19-25 September. He will operate SSB and FT8/4 on  40-2
         metres, and will also participate in the CQ WW RTTY DX Contest  "as
         a beginner of this mode,  so please be patient".  QSL via home call
         (direct or bureau); the log will be uploaded to LoTW and Club Log.
JA     - Take, JI3DST  will be active again from  Shodo Island (AS-200)  be-
         tween  25 September and 4 November.  He will operate SSB and CW  as
         JI3DST/5, JJ5RBH and JS6RRR/5, as well as JS6RRR/p on FT8. The QSOs
         will  be made available for both  Club Log and LoTW Matching on the

LU     - Look for Hoc LU5BE/GR,  Enrique LU8EFF/GR  and  Vic LU7JMS/GR to be
         active holiday style from Herradura, in the Argentinian province of
         Formosa, between 13 and 18 September. They will operate SSB, CW and
         FT8 on 80-6 metres. QSL via home calls. [TNX LU5BE]
OH     - Gaby, OH/DF9TM  and  Frank, OH/DL2SWW were QRV from  Emasalo Island
         (EU-097) on 7-8 September, and have been active from  Reposaari Is-
         land (EU-173) since 14 September.  They will remain there until the
         19th.  See qrz.com  for updates.  QSLs via  home calls,  direct  or
         bureau.
OJ0    - Alex OH5UY (UT5UY),  Stain LB5SH  and  Henri OH3JR  will attempt to
         land at Market Reef (EU-053)  during a narrow weather window on  16
         September. If they succeed, they will be active as  OJ0/UT5UY (CW),
         OJ0/LB5SH  (SSB)  and OJ0JR (FT8)  for seven days.  If the  attempt
         fails, they will be QRV from the  Aland Islands (OH0) while waiting
         for the weather to improve.  QSL OJ0/UT5UY via OH5UY, QSL OJ0/LB5SH
         via LB5SH, QSL OJ0JR via OH3JR.
P2     - Puiu, YO5BIM  has been  in Port Moresby,  Papua New Guinea (OC-034)
         since 25 August,  and will remain there  until 21 September.  He is
         QRV as  P29VIM,  and can operate  CW, SSB, FT8 and JT9  on  various
         bands. QSL via home call and LoTW.
TN     - The  Czech DXpedition Group  (OK1BOA, OK1CRM, OK1FCJ, OK1GK, OK2ZA,
         OK2ZC, OK2ZI  and OK6DJ)  will be active as  TN8K  from  the  Congo
         between  7 and 20 January 2023,  with "full operation"  expected on
         10-19 January, with several stations and  a focus on the low bands.
         They will operate SSB, CW  and digital modes  (RTTY, FT8, FT4, PSK)
         on 160-6 metres and via QO-100 satellite.  QSL via LoTW, Club Log's

VK9C   - VK3QB, VK6CQ, VK6SJ and VK6VY will be active as VK9CM  from the Co-
         cos (Keeling) Islands (OC-003) from 26 October to 3 November.  They
         plan to operate CW, SSB and FT8 (F/H)  on 80-10 metres  ("plus some
         6m activity"),  and to participate in the  CQ WW DX SSB Contest  as
         VK9C. QSLs via EB7DX.
VP5    - Chris, N8CTB will be active as VP5/N8CTB  from  Middle Caicos  (NA-
         002) on 20-24 September.  He will operate SSB on 80, 40, 20, 17 and

VP8    - Nathan, 2E0HSV (ex M3ILB) is now in Stanley, Falkland Islands work-
         ing as broadcast engineer at a radio station. When time permits, he
         will operate SSB and digital modes "across the HF bands" as VP8AAE.
         He also plans to be QRV  "from the various  SOTA points across both
         East and West Falkland".  QSL cards  "are not something I can offer
         at the moment", he says, "but I will look into it".
W      - The 75th anniversary  of the  Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)  is
         being celebrated over a period of several months by various activi-
         ties.  Special callsign K4C/75  (to distinguish this operation from
         previous temporary users of the callsign)  will be activated  until
         30 September  from  locations in  northern Virginia.  QSL via N4JR.

YJ     - Darren, VK4MAP will be active holiday style from Vanuatu between 17
         September and 2 October.  He will operate SSB on 80, 40, 20, 15 and
         10 metres as YJ0DA from IOTA group OC-035, and then as YJ0DA/p from

CROZET 2022-23 ---> Thierry, F6CUK  will leave  Reunion Island  on board the
"Marion Dufresne" on  9 December,  and should reach Crozet around Christmas.
His plans  to be QRV from Crozet for three months [425DXN 1607] might change
for the worse: due to "fears of QRM that I could cause with the  terrestrial
magnetism measurement laboratory located in Crozet",  he says,  "the expedi-
tion risks  being shortened  and a return in  February  is mentioned".  [TNX

QSL VIA F6BFH ---> Alain, F6BFH was a close friend of Franz, DJ9ZB (SK).  He
was contacted by the widow and invited to take over the  QSL management  for
the stations that Franz was in charge of.  Alain has accepted  and  has been
provided  documentation for  4S7RO, 5A1HA, 6Y5/4S7RO, 9X5GG,  A71AU,  AP2KN,
ET3PG, ST2SA, UA2FN, YJ0AUS, YK1AA, YS1RR. [TNX F6AJA]

+ SILENT KEY + Hermann Samson,  DJ2BW  passed away  on 23 August,  aged  88.
First licenced in 1953,  he was  an accomplished DXer  with 340/393 (Mixed),
340/386 (Phone), 339/357 (CW)  and 339/350 (Digital)  current/total credited
Entities in the  DXCC Honor Roll standings,  as well as 3138  DXCC Challenge
points.  During the 1980s and 1990s  "his personal DXpeditions provided many
DX-friends with new countries, especially on the low bands", his friend Uli,
DJ2YA recalls.  A former member of the First Class Operators' Club,  CW  was
his primary operating mode. At his home near Trier he designed and built the
ETM  series of electronic keyers  which became  very popular in  the 1980s -
your Editors' Samson ETM-8C has worked flawlessly for thirty years now,  and
counting. Thank you, Hermann.
