3Y0J --- > The fundraising has been extremely successful, and the team has
reached 100% funding of their 715,000 USD budget. Additional donations will
help reduce the operators' fees. Also, "only upfront supporters will receive
the benefits of being prioritized during the QSL/LoTW process".
The team will assemble in London, and on 11 January they will depart from
RAF Brize Norton with a military flight to Port Stanley (Falkland Islands),
where they will arrive on 12 January in the evening. Departure for Bouvet is
now expected on 14 January; depending on weather and sea conditions, the
voyage will take 11 to 14 days. It will be possible to follow the vessel on

CROZET 2022-23 ---> Thierry, F6CUK has been at Alfred Faure station on Ile
de la Possession, Crozet Islands since 20 January. "No traffic will start
before the weekend", he says. "I also had contact with the IPEV [the French
Polar Institute, Ed.], it should be fine and the measurement fields are
opposite the base", he adds. "The famous Absolute Measure lasts about 20
minutes so it's about 4.5 hours total, but I think there is a way to see it
in detail. Anyway I have to see the manager and the two technicians who will
take the measurements to define an action plan". The callsign will be known
after the first QSO, so bookmark http://crozet2022.r-e-f.org/news.html for
the official announcement. QSL via Club Log's OQRS, or via F6EXV (direct and
bureau); the complete log will be uploaded to LoTW a few weeks after Thierry
returns home (late May-early June).

award will be presented at the SWODXA DX Dinner, held annually in conjunc-
tion with the Dayton Hamvention. The judging committee will be staffed by
SWODXA representatives, as well as a representative from both the Northern
California DX Foundation (NCDXF) and the International DX Association
(INDEXA). See https://www.swodxa.org/DX-Mentor-Program/ for more information
and the application form.

DX Ultra-Marathon, a year-long operating event to be run from 1 January
through 31 December 2023. Launched in 2021 and intended to promote everyday
activity on CW and SSB, this initiative's aim is to get people on the air
and contact as many different stations as possible, on as many bands as pos-
sible, in as many DXCC Entities and WAZ Zones as possible over the duration
of a full year. Participation is open to all amateurs: you do not need to
sign up for TBDXC membership, but you have to register for the marathon; see
https://www.tbdxc.net/marathon for information.

YASME EXCELLENCE AWARD ---> Established in 2008 by the Yasme Foundation
(https://www.yasme.org/), the Excellence Award is presented to individuals
and groups who, through their own service, creativity, effort and dedication
have made a significant contribution to amateur radio. The contribution may
be in recognition of technical, operating or organizational achievement, as
all three are necessary for amateur radio to grow and prosper. The latest
recipient, announced on 15 December, is the CW Operators Club, widely known
as CWops (https://cwops.org/). The Award "recognizes the contributions to
amateur radio by CWops in support of training and on-the-air activities that
promote Morse/CW operation, leading to more interest in and sustained CW
activity around the world".
