9A     - 9A66AA  is the  special callsign  that  Tom, 9A2AA  will  be  using
         throughout 2023  to mark his  66th year in  amateur radio.  QSL via
         home call. [TNX 9A2AA]
D4     - Harald, DF2WO  will be active again as  D44TWO  from Sao Tiago (AF-
         005), Cape Verde on 3-21 January. He will operate FT8 with some SSB
         and CW  on  160-6 metres,  and  via the  QO-100 satellite.  QSL via
         M0OXO's OQRS.
DL     - Celebrating  "100 years of broadcasting in Germany",  special call-
         sign DB100RDF will be in use from 1 January to 31 December. QSL via
         the bureau, or direct to DO2PZ. The first official radio entertain-
         ment programme in Germany was broadcast on 29 October 1923.
EA     - Special callsign EG1NMP  will be active on  7-10 January  in remem-
         brance of the wreck of the "Monte Palomares" (10 January 1966). QSL
         only via LoTW and eQSL.  The Spanish freighter sank  in  the  North
         Atlantic, and only six of her  38 crew were rescued.  One of  those
         survivors was the ship's electrician Manuel Gonzalez, VK3DRQ, whose
         first-hand  account  of  that   tragic  sinking  can  be  found  on

FW     - Darren, VK4MAP  will be  active  holiday  style as  FW/VK4MAP  from
         Wallis & Futuna in late December until "the first half of January".
         He will operate SSB on 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10 metres.  QSL direct to

GM     - Special event station GB2KW  will be active again  on  1-28 January
         from  near Inverness, Scotland using vintage equipment manufactured
         by  KW Electronics Ltd  during the  1960s and 1970s.  QSL via LoTW.
         Also active from England,  especially  over the  "KW Weekend"  (7-8
         January), are expected to be GB0KWD, GB4KW, GB5KW and GB8KW.
KP4    - Manuel, WP4TZ will be operating portable from  Isla de Vieques (NA-
         249), Puerto Rico  from  29 December to 3 January.  He will operate
         SSB on 40-10 metres. [TNX DX World]
LA     - LA100K is the  special callsign for the  Akademisk Radioklubb, LA1K
         to celebrate the 100th anniversary  since its foundation.  Based in
         Trondheim, it is the oldest amateur radio club in Norway.  The spe-
         cial callsign will be in use from 1 January until 31 December.  QSL
         via the bureau, or direct.
LZ     - Radio Club Blagovestnik  (LZ1KCP)  will use  six  special callsigns
         during  2023  to honour as many different Orthodox saints:  LZ319TS
         (January and February), LZ522ME (March and April),  LZ78KA (May and
         June), LZ1015RW (July and August), LZ288MS (September and October),
         and  LZ600PA (November and December).  QSL via the bureau or direct
         to P.O. Box 36, 4300 Karlovo, Bulgaria. Details on the "All Saints

OE     - OE40XTU is the special callsign for OE1XTU, the  Amateur Radio Club
         at TU Wien (the Vienna University of Technology),  to celebrate its
         40th anniversary during 2023.  QSL via LoTW  and  eQSL (preferred),
         paper cards  to be requested  via Club Log's OQRS  will be sent  in
         early 2024.
ON     - OQ95RCL  is the special callsign for  Radio Club Leuven (ON4CP)  to
         celebrate its 95th anniversary throughout 2023. QSL via LoTW, eQSL,
         bureau, or direct to ON3AR.
PJ4    - Jeff, WA2BOT, who has been QRV as PJ4/WA2BOT from Bonaire since  20
         December, will be using PJ4JP during the RTTY Roundup.  The contest
         will start at 18 UTC on 7 January,  and will end at  23.59 UTC on 8
         January,  see https://www.arrl.org/rtty-roundup for the rules.  QSL
         both callsigns via LoTW only.
SM     - 8S80AA is the special callsign  for the Vasteras Radio Klubb, SK5AA
         to celebrate its 80th anniversary throughout 2023. More information
         can be found  on  https://www.sk5aa.se/.  QSL via  Club Log's  OQRS
         (preferred), via the bureau to SK5AA, or direct to SM5FUG.
VK     - VI75G is the callsign for the  Geelong Amateur Radio Club  to cele-
         brate its 75th anniversary throughout 2023.  QSL via LoTW and eQSL,
         or via VK3ATL (direct and bureau).
VP2M   - Thaire, W2APF will be active again as VP2MDX from  Montserrat  (NA-
         103) from 3 January to 28 March.  He will operate CW and SSB on 80-
         10 metres. QSL via LoTW, or via W2APF. [TNX The Daily DX]
VU     - Special event station AT18BSG will be activated on 1-15 January for
         The  18th National Jamboree of Bharat Scouts and Guides  to be held
         in Pali, Rajashthan. QSL via VU2NRO.
VU     - Once  again  the  West Bengal Radio Club (VU2WB)  will provide  as-
         sistance during the Ganga Sagar Mela on Sagar Island (AS-153). This
         is the annual gathering of Hindu pilgrims to take a holy dip in the
         Ganges, where the river merges with the Bay of Bengal.  Expect some
         activity on the HF bands as AT2WBRC on 5-17 January. [TNX The Daily

W      - The Straight Key Century Club's annual on-air event,  commemorating
         the club's founding in 2006  and  celebrating the  original instru-
         ments of early radiotelegraphy (straight key, bug and cootie keys),
         will run on 2-31 January.  Look for K3Y to be aired from the ten US
         call areas (K3Y/0 through K3Y/9), plus /KH6, /KL7 and /KP4.  Infor-
         mation about  the event  and  QSLing  instructions can be found  on

WRTC 2023 AWARD ---> Promoting the World Radiosport Team Championship  to be
held in July  in conjunction  with the  IARU HF World Championship,  several
special callsigns  will be activated  between  1 and 31 January  on the five
classic bands (80, 40, 20, 15 and 10 metres) CW and SSB:  4X22WRTC (Israel);

2023 IOTA HONOUR ROLL & ANNUAL LISTINGS ---> The  last date  for  submitting
applications  or  score updates  to checkpoints  for inclusion  in the  2023
Honour Roll and Annual Listings is 31 January 2023.  If submitted after that
date, they will be processed in the normal way,  but the scores will be held
over  to the  following  year's  listing.  Where  packages  with  cards  are
involved, these need to be posted/dated before 31 January.  Participants who
have not updated  since the 2018 annual listings  and  wish to remain listed
should make a submission  on or before  31 January 2023.  Those who have not
logged into  their record  for more than two years,  will need to revalidate
their registration through [email protected].  Do not leave it to the last

CQ DX MARATHON ---> The  CQ  DX  Marathon  is  a  year-long  DX  hunt,  with
participants competing to see who can work the greatest number of  countries
("entities") and  CQ zones  during the calendar year.  The 2023 edition will
start at 00.00 UTC on  1 January and  will end at 23.59 UTC on  31 December.

FT8WW ---> Thierry, F6CUK has bee QRV as  FT8WW  from  Ile de la Possession,
Crozet Islands (AF-008) since 24 December at 22.30 UTC. The callsign commem-
orates the 60th anniversary of the first amateur radio activity from Crozet,
conducted by  Roger Baudelot, FB8WW  (December 1961-February 1962).  For the
time being, Thierry operates FT8 and some CW on 30 and 20 metres.  On FT8 he
uses 250 watts and MSHV,  which enables  him to make  three QSOs in parallel
using the regular FT8 protocol (not F/H).  According to the latest upload to
Club Log, he has made  7344 QSOs  with 4746 unique callsigns until 04.56 UTC

WORLDWIDE HOLYLAND DX CONTEST (WWHC) ---> Effective with  the  2023 edition,
on the occasion of the 75th anniversary  since the foundation of the  Israel
Amateur Radio Club and the establishment of the State of Israel,  the tradi-
tional Holyland Contest will become the  Worldwide Holyland DX Contest:  any
station anywhere can work any other station for points;  contacts with 4X/4Z
stations will attract  more points.  The contest  will take place  on  14-15
April, from 21.00 UTC on Saturday until 20.59 UTC on Sunday (24 hours).  The
