8Q - Kasimir, DL2SBY will be active again as 8Q7KB from the Maldives
(AS-013) on 13-21 June. This time he will operate "more CW and SSB"
with a focus on 12, 10 and 6 metres. QSL via LoTW, Club Log's OQRS,
or direct to home call. He no longer uses the bureau.
F - Michel, F8GGZ will be active as TM400BP on 14-21 June. The special
callsign memorializes the 400th anniversary since the birth of
Blaise Pascal, the French mathematician, physicist, inventor,
philosopher and writer (19 June 1623). QSL via home call.
HA - Special callsign HG23TISZA (QSL via HA7VK and LoTW) will be used
again during this year's Tisza Cup, the International CW Contest to
be held on 3 June (from 02.00 UTC to 14.59 UTC). Complete informa-
tion can be found on https://www.tiszacup.eu/.
I - ARI Perugia will operate two stations during their Open Day from
Pian di Massiano (JN63ec). Look for II0PEG to be active via the QO-
100 satellite (SSB and CW) on 4 June (7-15 UTC), and IQ0PG/p to
participate in the IARU Region 1 Field Day CW (3-4 June).
I - Launched in 1904, the "Elettra" was a two-masted steam yacht that
Guglielmo Marconi used as a floating laboratory for many
experiments. Part of her keel stands in the grounds of Villa
Griffone, at Pontecchio near Bologna, from where ARI Fidenza will
be active as IY4FGM on 10-11 June.
JD1/M - Teru, JE7IZM will be on Minami Torishima (OC-073) on 8-9 June. He
expects to be QRV on 17 and 15 metres as JE7IZM/JD1 in his spare

JY - JY7RW is the special callsign for members of the Royal Jordanian
Radio Amateurs Society (JY6ZZ) to celebrate the wedding of Hussein
bin Abdullah, Crown Prince of Jordan, and Ms. Rajwa Al Saif on 1-4
June.
LX - Amateur radio operators from France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands
and Germany have hold a meeting in Luxembourg since 1969. Look for
special event call LX8SAR to be aired during this year's event,
which will take place on 16-18 June at Weicherdange. All QSOs will
be confirmed via the bureau.
PY - Look for Ren, PY8WW to be active as PX8B from Ilha de Bailique (SA-
045) on 21-25 June. He plans to be QRV on 80-6 metres. QSL via home
call.
SM - Lars, SM6CUK will be active holiday style as SA6G/7 from Ven Island
(EU-137) on 5-11 June. He will operate mainly CW on 40-10 metres.

YJ - Chris, VK2YUS will be active again as YJ0CA from Efate (OC-035),
Vanuatu on 17-28 June. He will operate SSB on 40-10 metres. QSL

ZC4 - ZC4RH has been QRV again from Dhekelia (KM64vx), UK Sovereign Base
Areas on Cyprus, since 1 June. He will remain there until 8 June,
with activity on the HF bands (maybe also 6m) CW, SSB, FT4 and FT8.

CQ DX MARATHON ---> The CQ DX Marathon is a year-long DX hunt, with
participants competing to see who can work the greatest number of countries
("entities") and CQ zones during the calendar year. Complete results of the
2022 edition are on https://dxmarathon.com/results/2022/.
EZ/DL7ZM ---> David, DL7ZM (OE6NZM) was active as EZ/DL7ZM from Turkmenistan
on 29-31 May, and expected to remain there until 3 June. This was neither a
DXpedition nor a holiday style operation, but a "a trip to establish a uni-
versity cooperation and to perform some very limited radio propagation
study" similar to his June 2022 activity from Socotra Island (Yemen). He
operated CW on 10 metres, and did not expect to make "more than a few hun-
dred QSOs".
MM0UKI ---> Nobby, G0VJG and Emil, DL8JJ were active with two stations from
Rockall Island (EU-189) from around 00.00 UTC on 31 May until around 05.45
UTC on 2 June. According to first-hand information published by "The
Guardian" (https://www.theguardian.com/uk/scotland) on 31 May, the "ascent
up the sheer-sided granite rock was much more hazardous than expected be-
cause the waves were far bigger than anticipated". When Emil, who is an
expert mountaineer, tried to land on the rock to fix the lines needed for
the others to follow, "the swell was so great that he was twice washed into
the sea before he was able to clamber on at the third attempt". QSL via

T31TT --- > The Rebel DX Group has been active from Kanton Island since
around 03:30 UTC on 31 May. According to Club Log's latest statistics (see
https://clublog.org/charts/?c=T31TT#r), as of 2 June at 02.32 UTC they had
made 21972 QSOs with 5293 unique callsigns. Main activity is taking place on
FT8 (19650 QSOs). They plan to be QRV for 10-12 days. QSL via Club Log's
OQRS.
+ SILENT KEY + Charles H. "Chip" Margelli, K7JA passed away on 26 May. He
was diagnosed with cancer in March. First licenced in 1963, during his ca-
reer with Yaesu Musen Co. Ltd. (1977-2006) he helped provide equipment for
countless DXpeditions. He also worked for Heil Sound, CQ Publishing, Force
12/InnovAntennas America and Ham Radio Outlet. K7JA was active in DXing and
especially in contests and goodwill activities for over sixty years.
In 1984, the Chinese Radio Sport Association invited Chip and his wife Janet
(KL7MF) to operate from BY1PK and help train new local operators during the
early phases of the rebirth of amateur radio in China. In 1989, he was the
American representative in the first-ever Finnish-Soviet-American DXpedition
to Malyj Vysotskij Island (4J1FS), and in 1991 he joined team ZA1A, whose
activity reintroduced amateur radio in Albania. He was also a member of the
joint Cuba-USA operations in 1994 (CO0FRC) and 2003 (CO0US). In 1990 Chip
and Mike Wetzel (W9RE) won the silver medal at the first-ever World Radio-
sport Team Championship, held in conjunction with the Goodwill Games in
Seattle.
A member of the First Class CW Operators' Club (FOC) and a recipient of the
E.T. Krenkel Medal conferred "for the outstanding world contribution to the
development of radio amateurs", in May 2008 Chip was inducted into the CQ
Amateur Radio Hall of Fame.
