Enjoy! 3G1P (ILOTES PAJAROS, SA-100) --- > "Team members had a Zoom meeting on 24 July, in which they went in great detail over the radio equipment. Given the highly variable sea conditions, they decided that the radio, generators, camping gear, food, water and fuel supplies will be packed such as to be deployed in two phases. If sea conditions are good, both phases will be implemented right away, one after the other. However, if sea conditions worsen, or are difficult to begin with, only the first phase will be deployed, while the second will be attempted a day or two later". The team aims to complete their preparations in Iquique quicker than planned, hoping to arrive in Caleta Lobos a day earlier on 16 August. If conditions allow, they may attempt to land on 17 August. If not, they may have to wait, "as the decision to go remains with the leader of the logistical team" ("a respected fisherman from Caleta Lobos"). In August we will start packing our container, and complete packing in mid-September for all the equipment going onshore to Bouvet Island. The team will meet in Oslo for two workshops to make this happen. Currently, shipments are on their way to Norway from the USA, Italy and Bulgaria. Our equipment sponsors such as DX Engineering, ACOM, ICOM, RF Power, Spiderpole and RigExpert all make a difference in executing one of the most challenging DXpeditions ever. We will depart from Cape Town February 1st 2026, and the DXpedition is scheduled for 36 days. We intend to stay around the island for more than 21 days, which will provide us with enough time to wait for good conditions to land the team and all the equipment. Our plans are sound and adaptable to the conditions we expect to meet. Four team members have previous experience from the 2023 3Y0J DXpedition to Bouvet. In addition, we have hired two external expedition support companies to assist us in landing and camp setup. These companies have demonstrated skill in expedition support in remote areas, emergency evacuations and safety preparedness in both the Arctic and Antarctica climates. In a few weeks we are paying our second vessel deposit in the order of $360,000. This deposit, coupled with other expenses have resulted in nearly $1,000,000 in payments to make this DXpedition happen. With a budget of Around $1,700,000, we continue to seek donations to assist us in this activation. Our team wishes to use this opportunity to thank all the clubs, associa- tions, and foundations, as well as individuals who have already provided us with their generous support. Going to such remote places would not be possi- ble without everyone's contributions. Meanwhile, we invite people to visit our website at https://3y0k.com and consider making a donation using the re- spective button or directly via PayPal (donate[@]3y0k.com) to help us offset some of our costs. Every donation helps offset the cost of the DXpedition, and is greatly appreciated by the team, and helps ensure the success of this DXpedition". The DXpedition organizers are still seeking more operators. Those interested should contact them at [email protected]. YASME FOUNDATION GRANT ---> The Yasme Foundation has announced a supporting grant to cover the cost of license exams for youth in Malawi. Nine people participated in exams this week. Five are new licenses, and four are upgrades. The board wishes to acknowledge the ongoing work of Don Jones, K6ZO (7Q6M) for promoting amateur radio in Malawi. Under his leadership, the HacDC Amateur Radio Club initiated the Malawi Project. Its permanent home now is the Jeffrey Dahn Memorial Foundation (https://dahnfoundation.org/), which "champions education in electronics for African youth, leveraging amateur radio to inspire innovation and unlock opportunities". ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- QSLs received direct or through managers: 5Z4BU, 8A1K, 8Q7KW, 9M1Z (OC-133), A71CT, CX100IARU, D2UY, D44ZZI, D4DX, D84C (AS-084), E6RS, EP4HR, GB0IARU, HD8G, HP1EUA, HR4/PY8WW (NA-060), J42A, JT5DX, MM0UKI (EU-118), P43A, S21PL, S79KW, S79VU, TK4TH, TM13COL, TX5U (OC-066), TX9A (OC-152), TZ1CE, UP0L, V73WW, VE2JAZZ, VK9DX, VP2VI, Z81Z, ZD7BG. **************************************************************************** 425 DX NEWS HOME PAGE: https://www.425dxn.org/ **************************************************************************** 425 DX News is a free of charge weekly bulletin edited by Mauro Pregliasco, I1JQJ and Valeria Pregliasco, IK1ADH Its contents may be used, reproduced and distributed in part or full provided that "425 DX News" or "425DXN" receive proper credit Contributors are invited to send their DX information to Mauro Pregliasco, I1JQJ ([email protected]) The deadline is 12 UTC on Fridays **************************************************************************** Direttore Responsabile Gabriele Villa, I2VGW Giornalista Professionista - Tessera n. 071675 Ordine Nazionale dei Giornalisti Roma, Italia ****************************************************************************
